Heartnut is a variety of Japanese walnut. It produces a tasty kernel that often cracks out whole or in large pieces. It is a fast growing, disease resistant tree that grows well in a variety of locations. Seedling trees may not always manifest the heart shaped nut, but rather revert to the typical oval shaped Japanese walnut. Hardy in zones 5-8.
