English Walnut Stratified Seed (UNAVAILBLE for 2025 season)

Sold in packs of 20 stratified seeds in damp wood shavings. Our seed is collected locally from mature parent trees that have proven to be very productive. The seed is currently in stratification and orders placed now will ship in late March. It will be ready to plant when it arrives at your door!

English walnut, which is the variety most of us are familiar with eating, produces large, easy to crack nuts that have a tasty kernel inside. Unlike black walnut, the nuts often fall cleanly out of the husk when ripe, which makes processing much easier. Also unlike black walnut, english walnut seems to produce less juglone which makes it more compatible with gardens or landscapes that may contain juglone sensitive plants. Generally hardy to zone 5.
